National Safeguarding Week: how we can all play our part

Safeguarding is crucial to protecting the safety and wellbeing of both customers and colleagues, particularly children, older people, and those with disabilities.

It involves protecting people from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, whether that harm is physical, emotional, financial, or psychological.

We all have a role to play in safeguarding. It is not just the responsibility of designated safeguarding officers or members of our involved customer groups.

We encourage all our staff to take part in safeguarding courses and learning. We also have a dedicated Safeguarding Panel made up of staff from across the business who take the lead on providing advice, guidance and support to ensure concerns are raised and appropriately actioned.

We know a culture of vigilance and open communication is essential, and we encourage staff and customers to report things where something doesn't feel right.

It won't always be a safeguarding issue but may form part of a wider puzzle which can help us, and other agencies investigate and deal with an issue, and provide support where needed.

By fostering an environment where safeguarding is a priority, we can help prevent harm, and create safe and supportive communities for everyone.
