Housing association completes nearly 4,000-home surveys in Hampshire
Hampshire housing association Aster Group has surveyed nearly 4,000 of its customers’ homes across Hampshire as part of a wider project to assess the condition of its entire estate.
The project, which began in the spring, is being carried out in partnership with real estate services firm, Savills. Having highly accurate and up to date data will help Aster identify issues and develop long-term investment plans for customer’s homes, including sustainability upgrades, to ensure homes are cost-effectively well maintained, comfortable and efficient.
Aster is surveying over 26,000 homes in total across the south of England and is one of only a handful of housing associations surveying all general needs homes in such detail.
The data will inform the Group’s overall sustainability strategy and aim to reach carbon net-zero by 2050. The Hampshire homes surveyed are among 13,000 across the south of England that have already been assessed; with Aster aiming to survey all homes during the project.
Gary Bellenger, property investment director at Aster Group, said: “The data we’re collecting will make us even better at responding to the needs of our customers and proactively ensuring they always have a safe, comfortable and well-maintained home. We’ll also be able to plan better for future investment and understand where improvements need to be made.
“We’re committed to reducing the carbon impact of customers’ homes. Through this project we’ll collect energy performance information which will help us get more homes closer to being net zero carbon in the future.”
