Construction progresses at 100% affordable housing development in Dibden Purlieu

Construction is well underway at Aster Group's 100% affordable housing development on Noads Way in Dibden Purlieu, located on the edge of The New Forest. The project, which is being delivered by AJC Group on behalf of Aster, will provide 25 much-needed affordable homes to help meet the local housing demand.

This development, secured through a successful planning appeal in January 2024, is designed to offer a range of affordable tenures. It aims to help local people, many of whom have been priced out of the area, to remain close to family, work, and community ties.

The development is due to be completed by summer 2026.

Energy-efficient two, three, and four-bedroom homes are being built with thoughtful design elements that complement the local character, featuring red brick detailing, tiled roofs, bay windows, and landscaped surroundings. Retention of existing trees and new planting will further enhance the street scene.

Aster’s Chief Investment Officer, Amanda Williams, said: “Our new development, named Orchard Gate, is going to be a huge asset for the New Forest where affordable housing is in limited supply.

“This project not only addresses the urgent need for affordable homes but also fosters a sense of community and belonging. Each home is designed with high energy efficiency and sustainability standards in mind, ensuring that residents can enjoy comfortable, modern living.

“We are proud to partner with AJC Group on this initiative, which will provide local families with the opportunity to stay connected to their roots and thrive in a supportive neighbourhood.”

David Cracklen, Director of AJC Group, said: "It’s fantastic to see the Dibden Purlieu development taking shape. This project represents more than just new homes—it’s about creating opportunities for local families to live affordably in the community they know and love. Every home is being built to high energy-efficiency standards, helping future residents reduce their energy costs while living in a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood."

Located just half a mile from Dibden Purlieu town centre, the site offers excellent accessibility to local shops, schools, and public transport. Bus services provide connections to surrounding areas, including Calshot, Langley, and Southampton, ensuring sustainable travel options for residents.

The 11 rental properties will be allocated by the New Forest District Council, while shared ownership options are available via Aster Group.
