We’ve launched our 2024 ESG Report

With over 37,000 homes and nearly 2,000 employees across the south of England and London, we rightly have a responsibility to make sure we’re considering the impact we’re having on our communities. One way we do this is through our  Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report.

As a housing association with social purpose at our core, the three themes for ESG are very much aligned to our work and how we do it. From the way we operate through our robust governance structures, through planning, building and managing our homes, to engaging with our customers and communities and making sure our people feel supported to bring their best selves to work.

Some key highlights from our ESG Report:

  • Net Zero Commitment: We’re on track to reach net zero by 2050. Currently, 85.1% of our homes have an EPC rating of C or above, surpassing the sector average of 72%. Over 99.5% of our new homes are rated EPC B.
  • Strong governance: our G1/V1 rating has been reaffirmed and we have been implementing changes from the independent governance review.
  • Decarbonisation Success: Our Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2 project exceeded targets, allowing us to add more homes and secure additional funding for up to 150 homes. We’re also now bidding for the newly named, Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund which could see us improve 1,500-2,000 homes that are currently below EPC C.
  • Flexible Working: We’ve evolved our flexible working offer and continue to review our workspaces to make sure they meet our needs while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Social Rent Focus: 68% of our homes are for social rent, reflecting our core social purpose.
  • Community Impact: Our brands and charities have positively impacted nearly 12,000 individuals through various support programs, including the Aster Foundation, Enham Trust, and EBHT Supported Living Team.

This year we’ve also shared how the ESG themes are considered throughout the lifecycle of our homes in the video below.
