Our comment on the new housing minister

“This government has made important commitments to the housing sector over the past year and what’s needed now is continuity and stability so that these vital ambitions can be achieved.

“Alok Sharma’s brief tenure saw a renewed focus on social and affordable homes and a recognition of the importance of choice in the market. He also acknowledged the expanded role that housing associations must play in addressing Britain’s housing shortage.

“I’m hopeful that the new minister will work to ensure this momentum is maintained and built upon. One of his major challenges will be to oversee the publication of the much-awaited Green Paper on Social Housing and we look forward to working constructively with the Government and other relevant stakeholders on this.”
