Our comment on the appointment of the new Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government
“Sajid Javid has been a keen supporter of housing associations and the need for them to play an even greater role in solving the crisis. Crucially, he recognised that development of different housing types is vital in correcting the market. Offering increased choice is a key part of the solution and the social housing sector occupies a unique position in being able to deliver this.
“Stability is a crucial factor in helping the UK to meet delivery targets and solve the housing crisis. I’m keen to see continuity of key policies and hope that we can build on the growing relationship between housing associations and government.”
