Our comment on the appointment of Kit Malthouse as Housing Minister

It’s disappointing to see another housing minister leave the post so soon after being appointed, especially at such an important time for the sector. But with just under 7,000 homes in and around Kit Malthouse’s constituency, we’re looking forward to building on our existing relationships and to seeing the positive work he’s done on a local level reflected in his new national role.

“The government has taken some positive policy steps and we expect this momentum to continue. It’s also encouraging to see the job go to an MP from outside of London. The government has acknowledged that the challenges facing those outside London are different to those in the capital, an approach it would be good to see continued.

“We are entering a crucial period for housing, with the Social Housing Green Paper due imminently. The country faces a huge challenge to tackle the housing crisis and we’re looking forward to working with the new housing minister to help rise to it.
