Poundbury
Dorset
Poundbury is an urban extension to Dorchester, founded in 1993. It is built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and was designed to create a ‘walkable community’ by having commercial buildings, residential areas, shops and leisure facilities mixed together. It is currently home to 4,200 people and over 200 businesses.
We’re on track to deliver 90 new affordable homes in Poundbury by the end of 2023. The homes were secured through a section 106 agreement and will consist of:
- 36 one and two-bedroom flats for affordable rent
- five two-bedroom flats for purchase using shared ownership
- 49 two and three-bedroom houses for purchase using shared ownership.
The new units will add to our existing stock in Poundbury consisting of 17 properties; five of which are general needs and 12 shared ownership.
