Aster is a not-for-dividend business that aims to grow and maximise profits so it can build more homes and improve its customers’ lives.
We provide safety and security through our reliable landlord and independent living services and we supply a wide range of housing options in response to the housing crisis.
Our vision
Our vision is that everyone has a home. It’s a bold statement but one everyone across our business is passionate about.
Helping guide what we do are our six business priorities, which turn our vision into the delivery of good quality services and more homes. Whether it’s through building more new homes, maintaining the thousands of homes we own, providing good services to our customers or making a commitment to giving back through the work of the Aster Foundation, we aim to carefully balance a commercial approach with our social heart.
Development
Over the next seven years, we plan to develop more than 11,800 homes. Currently, we own and maintain over 30,000 homes, provides services to approximately 90,000 customers and employ 1,300 people.
We have a strong track record of developing a wide range of new homes for outright sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. All our profits are reinvested back into our development programme so we can continue to build more homes wherever they are needed.
As well as delivering large-scale projects, we are committed to supporting rural homes and keeping the future of local villages alive.
Developing land on behalf of Community Land Trusts (CLTs), like our Nailsworth, Appledore and Toller Porcorum help build quality, affordable housing in areas that need it. This creates a long-term benefit to the community.
Performance
Our strong governance and financial viability have been recognised by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
We retain the highest governance and viability ratings, G1 and V1, following the regulator’s most recent in-depth assessment.
The HCA’s assessment examines governance, compliance, risk management, financial forecasts and liquidity.
